MEET MISSION :
Having been born & brought up in a small town Gwalior, this Punjabi duo's passion for singing saw them performing to live audiences at the raw ages of 15 & 13 respectively. At that age, taking their passion more seriously, Manmeet & Harmeet undertook 5 years of light vocal training from Pt. Sukhdev Chaturvedi. Being the only children of their parents and having a huge family business of their father Mr. Gulzar Singh, they still had a light of their own dreams and aspirations shining in them with the support and encouragement of their mother, Mrs.Nirupam Kaur, who they claim has been the source of inspiration and light behind their dreams.
DREAMS TO REALITY :
With dreams of accomplishing their mission and making it big in life they chose to come to Mumbai on their own, where they not only completed their graduation from Sydenham College but also continued a more serious riyaz (Music lessons) under their Guru, Mr.Kamlesh Shamania and so started the professional journey and the birth of a magnetic, singing duo……………...
The Meet Brothers! (The word "MEET" being derived from their names Manmeet & Harmeet).
While undergoing voice training at Gwalior, the brothers in the initial stages of their career, performed at over a dozen shows with the likes of Mr. Mahendra Kapoor and Pakistani Singer Hasan Jahangir [of Hawa Hawa fame]. Seeing the potential, energy and enthusiasm of the Brothers on the stage, some of the renowned singers suggested them to take up singing more seriously or rather as a career, and soon they were also seen in cities like Delhi, Kanpur, Chandigarh, Patiala, Indore, & Jaipur performing not only in clubs, auditoriums, hotels, colleges but also at weddings.
PROFILE, FLAVOR, CONTENT :
The profile portrayed through the album attempts not to slot the Meet Brothers into a specific genre of music & hence can be simply called a 'Hinjabi' album. Though the flavor of the album is versatile & vivid yet some of the songs are simple, beautifully arranged melodious ballads like "Tanha" & "Deewana", besides some folk based songs [such as the lead track "Jogi Singh" & the street-smart "Najariya"] & some zestful, fun filled, foot-tapping songs ["Mehfil", "Josh" & "Tumba"] - The songs have been composed keeping in mind the colorful,youthful, energetic image of Manmeet & Harmeet!
